Federal funding for children’s programs has taken a disproportionately big hit as lawmakers have grappled with tight budgets, a new First Focus report finds. Some areas that saw cuts: Funding for child abuse and neglect prevention declined by about 12 percent and funding for the Special Supplemental Program for Women, Infants and Children declined by 8 percent.
