Washington – First Focus is pleased to announce the hiring of Ari Goldberg as Vice President of Communications. Ari has nearly 20 years of experience in a variety of communications roles, including as a Press Secretary on Capitol Hill and Communications Director in the nonprofit and advocacy communities.

Most recently, Ari led the communications team at the nonpartisan government watchdog, the Project On Government Oversight (POGO). Before that, he worked at The ONE Campaign, the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), Radio Free Europe, and on Capitol Hill. He has written numerous op-eds for major publications and secured media placements in outlets such as The New York Times, Washington Post, USA Today, BBC, NPR, The Wall Street Journal, and Foreign Policy.

First Focus President Bruce Lesley said, “This is a critical time for us to have a new communications leader on board.  We are confident Ari will raise the profile of children’s issues during this chaotic political climate.

“His depth of communications experience makes him a great fit for the work we do on so many policy issues that impact our youngest and most vulnerable members of society. We are eager for Ari to bring new ideas and strategies to the table.”

Ari studied journalism at the University of Texas at Austin and holds a Master’s in Modern Hebrew Literature from Cambridge University. He is also the father of five!
