Summary of Key Child Health Provisions of the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act_Page_1On April 16, 2015, President Obama signed into law the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act (MACRA) (H.R. 2) (P.L. 114-110). The centerpiece of this landmark legislation is a permanent repeal of the sustainable growth rate formula (or SGR) that sets reimbursement rates for doctors providing Medicare services. Notable for children, the legislation included a two-year straight extension of funding for the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), maintaining all of the current-law provisions that were established under the Children’s Health Insurance Program Reauthorization Act.
