Unemployment from a Childs PerspectiveA new report for First Focus shows that one in six children lives with a parent who is unemployed or underemployed. Unemployment from a Child’s Perspective, by Julia Isaacs of the Urban Institute, confirms that though recent years have shown appreciable improvement, recession-driven job losses continue to have widespread impact for kids. The analysis also shows that three federal initiatives for families facing tough economic times are largely failing to reach children affected by the employment downturn.
