Mike Laracy

Senior Fellow (ret.), Annie E. Casey Foundation

After 25 years at the Annie E. Casey Foundation, Mike retired at the end of 2018.  He served there for over a dozen years as the Foundation’s first Director of Policy Reform and Advocacy, fostering and supporting the Foundation’s efforts to inform, guide, and influence public policy at the federal and state levels.  Prior to that he was a Senior Associate at the Foundation, responsible for initiatives and  grant-making agenda in reducing poverty and promoting opportunity.   Before joining the Foundation in August 1994, Mike was Assistant Commissioner for Policy, Planning and Program Evaluation in the New Jersey Department of Human Services, where he served for seventeen years.   He did his undergraduate and graduate work at Rutgers University, where he majored in urban planning and public policy. 

He is married to Eileen McGinnis and lives in Spring Lake, N.J.; they have two adult daughters.   In his retirement, Mike cycles, plays tennis, and tends his vegetable and perennial gardens.  He serves as chair of the national nonprofit, the Alliance for Early Success and the Spring Lake Shade Tree Committee.
