On Wednesday night I had the pleasure of attending my first outdoor concert in the area at Wolf Trap National Park in Vienna, VA, to see Indigo Girls’ and Joan Baez. One of Baez’s first songs was “Plane Wreck At Los Gatos Canyon,” also known as “Deportee,” which condemns the mistreatment of migrant farm works. When she introduced the song, Baez said it was her second night performing in Virginia and her second time to dedicate the song to Virginia Senator Tim Kaine, in honor of the first ever Spanish language speech given on floor of the U.S. Senate.
