plane crazy picToday, Congress passed a bill allowing for funds of over $250 million to be moved to the Federal Aviation Administration. These funds would replace those that the agency lost with the 85 billion dollar across-the-board sequestration cuts, which the FAA points to as the cause of recent increases in the number of delayed flights. How can Congress take swift action to prevent the inconvenience of delayed flights, while they have yet to provide funding to crucial programs that support kids –programs that lost 4.2 billion dollars with sequester cuts? These are programs such as Head Start that have a significant impact on the development of children; an impact that lasts a lifetime. If Democrats and Republicans can come together to protect planes, they need to come together to protect kids and provide the necessary funding to programs that support child development and well-being.
