Presented by the National Association for the Education of Homeless Children and YouthVoices of Youth is a facilitated discussion among thirteen formerly homeless youth who will discuss issues that have made a difference in their lives, from education to foster care to health care to housing.

The students will inspire you with the resilience with which they have faced the challenges of poverty, homelessness, and/or foster care while maintaining determination to complete their education, and live healthy, productive lives.

Come learn about the personal drive; inner strength; and federal, state, and community resources that helped these students to overcome the obstacles associated with instability and trauma.

This will be an inspiring event that will provide insight on the resilience of youth, and the supports that are necessary to build and maintain that resilience.

This briefing has no policy agenda; it’s about young Americans and how they have overcome serious challenges.
Students from Florida, Illinois, Louisiana, Maine, North Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Wisconsin, and Washington will be participating in the discussion.

Ms. Barb Dexter, local homeless education liaison for the Anchorage School District (Alaska), will moderate the discussion.
