Maternal health is intrinsically linked to child health and well-being, and the United States does not care for mothers and parents the way it needs to. Currently, the U.S. maternal mortality rate is among the worst and most racially disparate in the world, the maternal mortality rate for Black women was more than 2.5 times the rate for white women, and over 80% of the maternal deaths from 2017-2019 were determined to be preventable.
