In the News: Kids Fest event in WV mixes education, fun

HUNTINGTON – While it may have appeared that Kids Fest was all about fun and games, organizers of Sunday’s event said it was actually so much more.

“We’re giving out good information totally hidden in fun,” said Lena Burdette, director of education initiative at United Way of the River Cities, the host of the event.

Burdette said the purpose of Kids Fest, formerly known as Celebrate Children’s Day, is to promote healthy minds, healthy futures and healthy bodies in young children.

“It’s a cliche , but children are our future,” she said. “We have to make sure that they are raised in a healthy way.” READ MORE
