One of every 10 children in North Carolina lived with a parent who has been unemployed this year, according to a study released Thursday by a Washington nonpartisan advocacy group.
The study by First Focus determined that 118,000 N.C. children lived with parents who were unemployed for six months or more this year. The statistic is up from 23,000, or one in 25 children, when the recession began in late 2007. …Read more
