Washington – Accomplished government relations professional and former Capitol Hill staffer John Monsif has joined First Focus as Vice President of Government Relations.

In this role, Monsif will work on budget, appropriations, and tax policy as they pertain to children, will lead the Children’s Budget Coalition, and will spearhead First Focus’s signature annual publication, the Children’s Budget

Monsif brings a history of advocacy to First Focus, having served previously as the Senior Director of Government Relations for the Save the Children Action Network (SCAN), where he also worked on early childhood education and health policy.

Prior to joining SCAN, Monsif served as chief of staff to U.S. Reps. John Delaney, D-MD, and Louise Slaughter, D-NY. He also served previously as Slaughter’s Legislative Director and as Legislative Director for Rep. Cristopher Shays, R-CT.

“We’re thrilled to bring John on board to take over the budget portfolio at First Focus,” said Bruce Lesley, President of First Focus. “John brings many years of experience as a Capitol Hill veteran and a children’s advocate. John’s experience will be invaluable to furthering our mission of advocating for federal policies that put our nation’s children and families first.”
