The following is a statement from First Focus on Children President Bruce Lesley on today’s SCOTUS decision to uphold DACA:
“We are very pleased that the court has correctly decided to uphold the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program. The decision means that 800,000 youth brought to this country as children will — for now — be spared the pain of having their lives and families torn apart. However, to truly safeguard their well-being Congress must pass a permanent solution. We continue to support Congressional efforts to provide conditional legal status and a path to citizenship for certain long-term residents who entered the U.S. as children, that is, the Dreamers.”
