After studying President Biden’s FY 2023 budget proposal, released this week, First Focus on Children President Bruce Lesley offers the following statement:

“We’re pleased that President Biden’s FY 2023 budget supports the groundbreaking initiatives he promised the American people when he ran for office and in his legislation since, including high-quality affordable child care, enhancing the child tax credit, and other child-centered measures. We’re particularly encouraged that the proposal contains a critical increase in IDEA funding, money to double the number of mental health professionals in schools, and a significant increase in non-defense discretionary spending that will fuel investment in our children. We are hopeful the Administration will continue to prioritize child-centered measures and will work with Congress to ensure that they meet the growing needs of our children.”
