A federal judge ruled on Friday that the Trump Administration must fully restore the DACA program, including accepting new applications, effective immediately. First Focus on Children President Bruce Lesley greeted the news with the following statement:
“This decision is a huge win for hundreds of thousands of DACA recipients and their families, including 254,000 U.S. citizen children. 55,000 immigrant teenagers and youth who became eligible since the Trump administration attempted to end the program now can apply. DACA-eligible individuals and their families have led the fight against the Trump administration’s cruel and illegal policies and defiance of the U.S. Supreme Court. The ball is now in Congress’s court to provide permanent solutions for DREAMers that acknowledge that their home is here.”
