In response to the Biden Administration’s announcement that it will redesignate Temporary Protective Status for Haiti, First Focus on Children President Bruce Lesley issued the following statement:

“We are pleased that the Biden Administration has taken this action to protect children and families. The loss of TPS would have endangered children who have immigrated from Haiti as well as 27,000 U.S. citizen children whose parents benefit from TPS. The Administration’s decision has spared these families the difficult decision to separate their family or take their children into unsafe conditions in Haiti and away from the country they call home. We urge the President and Congress to continue to listen to the voices of Black immigrants calling for safety and permanency for themselves and their children.”
