Title 42 “is not an immigration policy,” advocate says

Courts, Congress and Biden Administration must uphold U.S. tradition of welcome

In response to the U.S. Supreme Court’s continuation of the pandemic border restrictions known as Title 42, First Focus on Children President Bruce Lesley released the following statement: 

“Title 42 is not an immigration policy. It is a public health law that is currently being misused to deny due process to children fleeing violence and persecution and seeking legal refuge in the United States. After almost three years of suffering inflicted on children, families and individual asylum seekers, we hope the courts, Congress, and the Biden Administration will uphold our country’s long tradition of welcome and allow Title 42 to finally end.”

First Focus on Children is a bipartisan advocacy organization dedicated to making children and families a priority in federal policy and budget decisions.
