Comments on Proposed Child and Adult Care Food Program Rule_Page_01First Focus submitted these comments on the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), Food and Nutrition Service proposed rule “Child and Adult Care Food Program: Meal Pattern Revisions Related to Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010” (Docket ID: FNS-2011-0029). First Focus supports an update of the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) meal pattern and provided comments to ensure successful implementation of rules that produce the best possible outcomes for children. This is the first major update of the CACFP nutrition standards since the program’s inception in 1968 and is an opportunity to improve the dietary intake of millions of children across the country. Along with training, technical assistance, and tools to assist early care and education providers to comply with new standards, the updated meal pattern with these recommendations will promote health and wellness among young children and positively influence their long-term health.
