In commemoration of Universal Children’s Day and the 25th anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, this briefing explores a critical modern theme for both global and domestic importance.  In today’s world, youth must have access to online resources to succeed; those who lack that access fall behind.  But that access raises a new set of threats of exploitation and abuse that youth, parents, and policymakers are struggling to understand and address.

The panel presents global and U.S. perspectives on protecting children in a digital world:Panelists:

  • John Carr, Senior Expert Adviser to the United Nations (International Telecommunication Union, and Secretary, Children’s Charities’ Coalition on Internet Safety (United Kingdom)
  • Holly Hawkins, Vice President, Programs & Outreach, National Center for Missing and Exploited Children
  • Ellen Blackler, Vice President for Global Public Policy, Disney
  • Representative, Covenant House

Moderated by Christine James Brown, President and CEO, Child Welfare League of America
