Chief Operating Officer, First Focus on Children

Messellech joined First Focus on Children in 2013 to lead the organization’s strategic vision and fundraising agenda, and today oversees those and all other operations. Messellech uses her strong leadership skills to build relationships with philanthropic foundations, individual donors, and corporate donors and to ensure that First Focus on Children has the resources to meet its mission of making children and families the priority in federal budget and policy decisions. Before joining First Focus on Children, Messellech led development efforts at the Constitution Project. Prior to that, she served as Fundraising Consultant at WealthEngine, where she managed a portfolio of 80 clients ranging from higher education to health care to national nonprofit organizations. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Politics and Government from the University of Hartford and a Master of Arts in International Affairs from Georgetown University. Messellech currently serves on the board of District Motherhued, an organization dedicated to supporting and empowering Black mothers across the country.
