Pennsylvania Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick (R ) is one of just 40 lawmakers to be named a Champion for Children this year by First Focus Campaign for Children.

In this brief video, Rep. Fitzpatrick tells First Focus President Bruce Lesley that children’s health care — especially the Children’s Health Insurance Program and pediatric cancer — top his list of priorities. His bipartisan Children’s Health Insurance Program Pandemic Enhancement and Relief (CHIPPER) Act will suspend a scheduled drop in the federal matching rate for CHIP in the coming fiscal year. The Fairness to Kids with Cancer Act would increase funding for childhood cancer research.

“Children represent roughly 25% of our population, but 100% of our future,” he says. “As citizens and public officials, we have no higher responsibility than to take care of our kids.”
