This week, the First Focus Campaign for Children along with several other groups, is calling on Congress to provide funding assistance before the end of the year for Flint, MI and other communities affected by lead contamination.

No level of lead is safe for children, and we know from research that lead poisoning in children can result in decreased bone and muscle growth, poor muscle coordination, speech and language problems, among a range of other side effects. Families and children exposed to lead have been waiting for too long – Congress needs to approve funding assistance without further delay so communities can begin to take steps to improve water systems and make sure schools and homes are safe for kids and families.

We’ve asked you to add your name to petitions. And now, we’re asking Congress to take action.
