On Tuesday, September 21 from 2:00-3:00pm, we encourage you to join our partners, the Half in Ten campaign and the Coalition on Human Needs, for a webcast: Stories Behind the Statistics – What the 2009 Poverty and Income Data Mean for Your Community, with the keynote address to be provided by a longtime advocate for children and their families, Sen. Chris Dodd (D-CT).

Projections for the 2009 poverty and income data, to be released by the Census Bureau on September 16, estimate that close to one in four children lived in poverty last year. Stories Behind the Statistics will feature elected officials, policy experts, service providers, and families speaking about the implications of this data for local communities, as well as action steps that can be taken to mitigate the impact and reverse the trend of increasing poverty across the country.
