Children’s Week 2021
Every Issue Is A Kids Issue
Our fourth annual Children’s Week unfolds at a game-changing moment for our nation’s children, the kind of moment that only comes around every few generations.
For the first time in decades, children have a place in our national dialogue, with their interests considered in several proposals before Congress and the Biden-Harris Administration. There is no better time to remind our leaders that every issue — from immigration to taxes to health care — is a kids issue. #ItsAKidsIssue is this year’s theme.
Festivities begin on Sunday, June 13 — Children’s Day — as First Focus on Children partners with Highlights for Children to “lean in and listen” as we ask kids to share their hopes and concerns for a post-quarantine school year. You’ll find our #DearGrownUps #BackToSchool campaign at this link.
Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona kicks off a week of virtual events with remarks during our opening panel, “The American Families Plan: What’s it do for kids?”
Throughout the week, members of Congress, advocates, analysts, academics, and policy experts will address major policy and budgetary issues, illuminating their impact on children and the people who care for them. Many of our partner advocates, including Nemours Children’s Health System and Children Thrive Action Network (CTAN), host adjacent events throughout the week. Please find the schedule of events below
