Trump DACA Move Jeopardizes the Lives of Hundreds of Thousands of Children & Families

WASHINGTON–President Trump announced today that he will end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) affecting nearly 800,000 young people and their families.

First Focus President Bruce Lesley said:

“This is a cold, cruel and heartless measure aimed at hard-working youth, many of whom have known no other home than the United States. Now, they face anxiety, uncertainty, and fear of deportation. The DACA program provides relief to millions of undocumented Americans are actively working or in school and make positive contributions to the U.S. economy and their communities. Without DACA, these individuals will be held back from the opportunity to achieve their full potential.

Today is a sad day for anybody who believes in the American Dream.

We urge Congress to act swiftly to protect these individuals from the threat of deportation so families can stay together.”
