Advocate urges “money and mechanisms” to help children access new shot
In response to authorization by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention that children as young as 5 can now receive the updated COVID-19 booster shots, First Focus on Children President Bruce Lesley made the following statement:
“We are very pleased that the protection offered by the new COVID-19 booster has been made available to even more children. We would, however, urge the Biden Administration and Congress to ensure that we have the money and mechanisms for adequate distribution. We have warned since the beginning of the pandemic that funding for children’s vaccines likely would run out just as they became available. We cannot leave children behind again.”
