StrategicMessagingCoverIn July 2011, First Focus commissioned a study to find the most effective messaging strategies to protect Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP). The study was conducted by public opinion expert Drew Westen, Ph.D.

The purpose of the study was to develop effective narratives that can beat the toughest opposition messages, develop brief, evocative statements or “talking points” that speak to people in the political center, and to identify words and phrases to use or avoid.
