KidsClassIn the wake of the Flint water crisis, which has and continues to expose 9,000 children and their families to lead poisoned water, Congress has yet to act on meaningful legislation to provide services for children and families affected and prevent similar disasters from happening in other communities around the country.

In fact, new reports surface about lead exposure in places like Pennsylvania, Texas, New York, California, Florida, and other states just about every week. Congress must act now to prevent and mitigate the devastating effects of lead poisoning for children:

  • Decreased bone and muscle growth
  • Poor muscle coordination
  • Damage to the nervous system, kidneys, and auditory system
  • Speech and language problems
  • Developmental delays with long-lasting effects
  • Seizures and unconsciousness in cases of extremely high lead levels

Will you join the First Focus Campaign for Children in asking your representatives and senators in Congress to act quickly to address the nation’s lead poisoning epidemic?
