This report — from First Focus on Children, Families USA, and UnidosUS — finds that the country will see its largest drop in children’s Medicaid coverage if states do not expand their electronic and ex parte eligibility reviews before the public health emergency ends, and that Latino and Black children will disproportionately be affected by the PHE unwinding.

Of the nearly 7 million children who are likely to lose their Medicaid coverage after the pandemic, the report estimates 2.4 million of them will be Latino and 1.4 million will be Black. Overall these children will experience coverage loss at twice the rate, 6%, of all non-Hispanic White children who will lose their Medicaid coverage.
